Board Certified Eye Physician & Surgeon
Diplomate, American Board of Ophthalmology
I was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Cerritos, CA where I live with my husband and 2 children.
I wore glasses full-time as a child. In kindergarten, I wore a patch over my right eye to strengthen the vision in my left eye as treatment for amblyopia (lazy vision). I have had 2 strabismus (eye muscle) surgeries to correct esotropia (eye crossing). My first surgery was at the age of 3 and my second surgery was at the age of 7.
I absolutely loved my ophthalmologist. Each visit, he would ask me, "Sarah, what do you want to be when you grow up?" And I would reply, "An eye doctor, like you!"
I remember one visit where I took the bus with my grandfather from his apartment to my ophthalmologist's office in L.A. We stopped at McDonald's, and I exclaimed proudly when I actually finished my entire Big Mac, "I'm a big girl now!" While I do not eat Big Macs anymore, I feel so blessed every day to be able to do what I love...to take care of children like me.
